    How long will I stay.....

The past month was horrible, and 2009 was just terrible.... most months this year I made 50% of what I was making in 2008, and in December I almost lost another 50% of the previous months. (in December of 2007, I was aiming to increase my income by 200%......... wow!)

I had to stop producing content, dropped over 300 domains in the past months......... and will be dropping 100's more in the coming months

I never thought it would get so rough

I'm lucky to have a day job, and still can continue building.......but I just do not know if I will stay for another year....

It's getting sad............. this was my most successful business since I started having businesses at the age of 18
Globo is gone......this is not the place I want to be part of.......................

I think you need to head out this way and brainstorm over pizza and beer.

You'll figure out what you want to change and leave alone. Give it a good 6 months and see where you are at. Re-evaluate and proceed accordingly.

I believe the adult industry has come to a standstill because of the economy. Everyone is hurting. I'm seeing businesses going out of business locally. It's sad.

I've been looking at it this way.... It costs me nearly nothing to build a blog other than the domain name and a quick theme. So I've been building. And I'm still building. And I'm seeing a great trend the past four months or so; We are coming back. I thought Christmas would kill sales; But I'm seriously up this month. The past 72 hours have rocked.

It might never be like it was, but it's still profitable. For sure. And it will get better.

(If not, you need to look at your business model.)

I too, have a hard time believing its the economy ... I've been in this biz since '97, and the good old days of XPICS - 18¢/impression banner farms!! ...

I honestly think this business is recession proof. As long as men jerk off, there will be a thriving adult business. I have be quoted saying, that being unemployed only gives surfers more time to jack off, and I truly believe it!

If you are not making the kind of money you were, it probably means that the ways you used to procure your income have changed, but the number of surfers to sell to has INCREASED if anything ... maybe you need to re-invent the way you sell to surfers?

I have gone through many "changes" in how I conduct my business, but overall, the numbers stay pretty constant, if you keep up with the trends et al.

Shemale blogs made very good money thru 2007 and most of 2008, but you know what happened, everybody and their brother figured it out, and the market became saturated ...

Of the 2400+ domains I host, 1900+ are adult, and I bet you that 1000 of those are shemale/tranny/ladyboy related ... no lies! The market for that niche over-saturated itself, and is now a much harder sell than it was 2 years ago.

I agree with Panky, that you probably can tweak your business model to be lucrative, much easier than you can look for a new business model ...

Think of this business as a mouse-catching buiness -- if the mice have become wise to the workings of your mousetrap, then to remain on top, you are going to need to build a better mousetrap.

Just the 2¢ of somebody in this biz for going on 13 years ....

Globo, why are you wasting time here complaining about how bad business is when you haven't even sorted out your Meta Tags for SEO on your Shemale TubeSite yet?????

Either you want Google to love your tube site or you don't.

Well you obviously had way too many domains. You probably weren't doing anything with most of them anyway.

Incorrect ... they do indeed factor meta tags, but bear in mins that all ON-SITE SEO combined totals about 5% of your SEO score ...

Its a matter of prioritizing your time, but to totally ignore meta tags and descriptions is not the message we want to send either.

Just don't make them your primary focus ...

First, I'm not complaining...... I'm stating an opinion, and facts!

As for the tube site, I do have problems with the SEO, Yes......I never did anything else but WP blogs and a few static sites, and always managed to get myself with good Google ranking for the keywords I was aiming for....

The tube site is a different story since it's a script with limitations..... I have limited abilities also

I'm not a wiz in building sites, and never said I was...... I'm a grumpy old man that comes from a law enforcement background. (if you ever need tips on investigating and apprehending criminals, I could maybe help you out)

    To all others, many thanks.........

I guess you are right on that one....... but when you make good money, and you want to expand fast (I was making a new blog every day)

Making only one sale per domain was worth it, but since my ratios took a dive, it is not worth keeping the ones that have little traffic......

Go back over those and revamp them, change shit around then see where your at before you get rid of them you never know. I had to do that a few times and it worked but after three years Im still a noob so it was a matter of learning what works first

So far, no real SE traffic....made one sale so far!

Compared to a new blog with like 5 posts, this is far less traffic, but more sales in the same time period. (take not that I push between 500-1000 unique a day on that tube.....so it's not that great)
