I know we all see the lower sales right now.. However just look what has happened in the last 2 days.

MC pretty much just banned xsales. One has to assume Visa will follow their lead sometime in early to mid 2009.

AFF appears to be going bankrupt, so they are trying to go public with an IPO. AFF owes over 420 million and doesn't have the cash to pay it back if their loans trigger the ballon payment. Which seems like it has a good chance of happening.

So this could be a good year for "Legit" Affiliates.. Programs will likely have to stop this xsale shit making affiliates a valuable commodity again and if AFF can't stay afloat the Tubes and torrents won't have anyone but Brazzers left.

Well, honestly, this year's end promises good things for 2009 with Master Card banning cross sales, AlphaRed being officially out of business and Adult Friend Finder in deep shit. As to Brazzers, with the banning of cross sales by Master Card and probably by Visa during the course of the new year, I'm sure that there questionable ethics will be revised and maybe will they become ethically acceptable to promote. Let's just hope that sales will increase following it's dramatic decrease this year!

I was reading somewhere that MC's new regulation came because of the DOJ. So that almost certainly means Visa US will be following suite but whom knows about out side the US. We can only hope.

As far as "ethically acceptable" na I don't think they will ever be. There are just certain groups in this industry that no matter what they are doing they always find a way to scam or cheat.

With the declining sales, it seems like what adult has been doing for years. You can never seem to be happy with what you have, because if you do, you are likely going to see a drop in income.

Seems like you always have to chase the sales, by either expanding or doing new things. One thing is certain, the sales are out there it's just harder to find them.

Well not all cross sales just the shady ones. You can still do cross sales among your own sites assuming they share the same merchant account. They banned pre checked traded cross sales and that kinda crap. Essentually likely putting a end to all this xsale crap.. Visa will likely follow suite because it was the DOJ that wanted them to do it.

Cross sales might slow down, but greedy (or shady) programs will find a way around it, besides, if Visa doesn't take as hard of a stance (or harder) MC alone isn't enough to put a huge dent in it.
As far as the tube sites, as long as there's traffic, someone is going to be on the receiving end. Tube sites will easily find customers, and the GFY "drama" of "finding" a sponsor accepting traffic will continue, the account will be canned and another account opened hours later with the sponsors full knowledge. It's not going to change, greed is constant.

You can't easily Google stuff on rapidshare. If Google can find it, so can the content owners, and they get it pulled pretty quick.

I think the biggest impact will be a leveling of the playing field. Not back to completely level, but closer than it's been in ages. Illegal sites will have a more difficult time monetizing their traffic, and honest quality programs that convert and retain will be in a more competive position.

Keep an eye on those High $$$ PPS threads over at GFY. That will be the tell tale indicator.

Penthouse bought Various Inc. (AFF) in an effort to make it's own IPO look more favorable. That IPO never came off. FriendFinder Networks is created, a little shuffling of paperwork, and now FriendFinder Networks is attempting their own IPO. It doesn't look to fare much better.

The $400 million purchase price of Various Inc. was all borrowed money which they've been unable to repay. FriendFinder Networks "has violated the terms of its debt agreements and may not be able to remain in business unless it raises money through the initial public offering or some other method."

Crunching some of the numbers in the prospectus shows AFF to be making an average of about $19 per member. That makes it kind of tough to pay $130 PPS and still make money. They show a net loss for 2007 of $29.9 million and a net loss of $32.3 million for the first nine months of 2009.
