View Full Version : Does liking porn make a chick hotter?

I came across this article (http://www.salon.com/mwt/broadsheet/2008/07/01/porn/) today and it brought up a few points:

Increasing number of women actually like porn.

The "by-product of the rise of porn star as the new 'it' female profession."
"Popular culture promotes the wild fun and whimsy of the girl who loves pornography." - This means that women with a predilection for pornography do not actually experience sexual satisfaction from watching it, but rather from attracting men by announcing that they are one of those X-rated "wild fun" girls.
Women's porn-watching is a sexual performance, the equivalent of a faked operatic orgasm.
Women enjoy porn because it's the equivalent of a strip tease -- something that turns her on only because it turns him on.
Women only enjoy porn with a story line - they need romance, kissing, foreplay, etc (an assumption that offends the author of this article)

So is this true? Do chicks think porn is cool or say they like it just because it's what guys want to hear (kind of like saying they like football)? Is it all just an act? Or are there chicks out there that really get off on gonzo porn?

I find that women are either offended or empowered by porn. It can go both ways and often does at the same time. To each their own, every women will like a different type of porn depending on their sexual mood, but it defintiely is not always wanting an "xrated version of a lifetime movie".

I don't think chicks like porn they are simply too different from men to enjoy these things.

(That also includes all forms of racing, drugs and humor.)

I find that women who offended by porn are uptight, boring and hypocritical.

I don't think it makes them hotter at all. More appealing perhaps on a very base level but that's it.

Women do like porn - just not porn "made for a guy".

I enjoy porn. Always have. Always will. Like every one else, I have my likes and dislikes. I enjoy variety too. I'm not alone either. There are a lot of women who enjoy porn and not because they are trying to please some guy. Now whether a woman will admit it or not, is a whole other story.

I think a lot of it has to do with how comfortable a woman is with her own body and sexuality too. Does she know what really turns her on? Does she have any reservations about exploring her fantasies? Does she have any reservations about expressing her wants, likes, dislikes with a lover or does she even know how to express them?

There's a stigma that is attached to women liking porn. We aren't supposed to like porn, go to strip clubs, like other women, strip, take erotic pictures or videos of ourselves or others, act in porn flicks, have our own softcore and/or hardcore porn sites, and just be total pervs like the guys. We aren't supposed to make sexual comments or be overly sexual and adventurous behind closed doors. It's just not proper for a woman so to speak. When women do strip, perform in porn films, have their own paysites, express their sexuality, explore their fantasies and the likes, many of these women get labeled as sluts and whores, they must have drug problems, they must have been damaged as kids, and the likes. Some women who wear erotic, but tasteful clothing, might be mistaken for a call girl, escort, hooker, or she's using her assets to climb the corporate ladder. Everything other than accepting the simple fact that women are sexual creatures and enjoy expressing their sexuality in one form or another. But, it is perfectly acceptable for a man to do this things and be total pervs. It's almost viewed by some as expected because afterall, he's a guy.

Things are changing a little bit. It's cool now to be gay, lesbian, or bisexual. Then there are those who are the pretenders just because it is now the cool, "in" thing to do. It is becoming a little more mainstream, accepted, even though the stigma for women is still there.

Interesting post. Something I disagree with though...it's the cool thing to be a gay or bi WOMAN. It's still gay to be a gay or bi man.

The stereotypes you talk about are from those with an already suppressed sexuality so quite frankly, there opinion doesn't, or SHOULD'T matter much.

You and I both agree that the stereotypes shouldn't carry any weight. That yes they do stem from people with closed minds and sexual insecurities. But, unfortunately, the stereotypes are very real and will always be there. It's how one chooses to deal with them that makes the difference.

Oh it'll absolutely always be there. Just as racism will never fully go away.

Stereotypes and those that buy INTO stereotypes are nothing but fodder for jokes to me. If someone is going to judge someone else on their sexuality or color of their skin, their opinion means nothing to me and I'll have absolutely nothing to do with them.

Now, a gay BLACK man on the other hand...

I like 70's porn, and a few specific niches, but in general, it's boring as hell. Shaved, bleached, siliconed people who aren't even attractive to me grunting when the director says to? Feh. Give me retro porn when real people with real bodies had real sex.

Or, give me my outrageous fetish stuff that I won't even mention here.

I'm with ya on that ... modern main stream porn puts me to sleep.

They need to continue the Tabboo series :)

I think a lot of girls are anti-porn and give guys a lot of slack for it, when they meet someone who might actually enjoy it with them, and understand why they watch it, etc.. that's a plus to them I'm sure.

Now do chicks actually enjoy it, sure there are some, but I don't think most will admit it like Panky said. I think there are some in each category, but I think most women who don't like porn are pretty open to say so, they aren't going to pretend they do. Then there are the girls who do it for the male attention, probably the same girls who would kiss a girl in a bar but never take her upstairs. hehe

I'm not in to porn but i'm not against it obviously, it just does nothing for me, like Pam said the bleach blonde babes with 99% plastic make me laugh more than anything.

I think that women are "programmed" to be offended by porn in the same way that men are "programmed" into homophobia.

My ex wife was very sexually uptight, but when I made her watch a bit of porn with me to warm up I almost needed plastic sheet protectors on our bed!

The test is not what they say about porn... its how it affects between their legs! I guarantee at least 9/10 chicks would be turned on, they are just programed to say that they aren't, so just do the dip stick test to find out! ;)
