Hey Guys. My little brother fractured his neck in 2 places over the weekend while playing for the USA Rugby team. He will undergo surgery tomorrow, they are going in through his esophagus to fuse and stabilize his neck. He's currently in ICU. Please send some healing vibes and positive thoughts our way if you can.

Damn, that's sad to hear! Sorry it happened to you Cyn! All my best wishes of recovery for him! :(

Rugby is a damn violent sport with some of the worst injury-like (if it isn't) actions one could see. :(

Ouch! Rugby can be like that. Used to play it at school and it could be brutal.

Good luck to him and good vibes.

The surgery went as good as possible. They had to replace a disc and fuse it to another with a titanimum plate. He should be allowed to rehab at home instead of a center - my mom will care for him - and out of icu later on this week. It's going to be a long recovery, but he is glad it wasn't worse and feels very lucky. If he wasn't as built, big, and strong as he is it would be a much different story. 2 years ago he tore his ACL and recovered fast from that.

He's now considering a career in sports medicine. He's been attending college pretty aimlessly this past year and thinks he now knows what he wants to study. I think thats perfect for him.

I hope he finds healing people more rewarding then breaking people. I'm glad to hear that things are going well, considering the situation.

WHEW !....

Glad to hear he's ok....I get nervous myself when I hear about injuries like that to other people in very physical sports such as Rugby..
