View Full Version : how many recips do you normally use on your free sites?

I have a question for free site experts here. I'm quite familiar with galleries and TGP's but until now I haven't really explored submitting free sites a whole lot. It's a simple question really, but I'm curious how many recips you suggest using on your index page? On some rules pages they will say for example something like "must be grouped with at least 5 other recips" or whatever but I never read anywhere if there is a limit or amount that should not be exceeded, so my question is, in your opinion, what is the safest and most effective amount of recips to use and why.

I always used 12 and never had a problem getting accepted. I know some go as high as 16. Also try to group LL's of the same "weight" together. So, LOR, PenisBot, RR, Tommy's, PK, etc, etc...all should be recip'ed together. I haven't submitted a freesite in around a year so they might have changed a bit, but I don't think they have.

Link Lists used also allow you one link back to your hub. Again, I don't know if this rule changed as well, but they used to allow one link back. So if you had 3 links per page, you can use one of those links to go back to your hub...you might want to check it though, lol, rules change quickly and I don't want to give you outdated info, but that used to be a good way to build a stream of traffic back to a hub.
(I'm pretty sure they allow it still because I can always tell a freesite submitter that starts submitting to a tgp...they all include that big ol' link back to their hub)

Yes they allow that link back. I'm hardcore free site submitter, and that link is counting like outgoing, you're absolutely right in every line above Mr.Blue, you're still well informed about LL's and their rules!

Ah, that's good to know that they still allow that. It really was a nice way to build up a steady stream of traffic to your hub. Which reminds me I should really be building freesites again, lol.

thanks for the info massive-x, could you explain more specifically how many you suggest per niche?

I think he means depending upon the niche where he had found worthwhile places to sub to. I'm not a big freesite submitter (should be) but I always use 12 or 16. With image recips I use 12 and I will push it to 16 with nice text tables. Never had a problem...

There is no philosophy about my recips, I just put it that way I submit on all well known link lists for all niches, there is no any secret message for you:)

I am always using 12 recips too and grouping the bigger linklists together has helped me alot!
Good advice!

ok.. while we're being on topic here anyway, this is my question of the month or even year..
WHY submit freesites to linklists, instead of galleries to TGP's?
Is it easier to get accepted with free sites? Better click through?
I've never done free sites, but I have a bunch of galleries now..

Well for one, freesites are more likely to get search engine traffic over time unlike regular TGP galleries. The reason for this is that for example, Google.com, sees a TGP or MGP gallery as simply being a doorway page to a larger site, so they don't get any weight. Freesites on the other hand are considered actual sites.
Another good reason for building and submitting freesites is the fact that they are normally listed for a longer period of time than typical galleries.
It's good practice to do both TGP/MGP galleries as well as freesites.

WHY submit freesites to linklists, instead of galleries to TGP's?
Why not do both? That seems like a general type answer, lol, but in essence freesites/linklists is another traffic source that has it's own benefits and drawbacks.
Basically a freesite consists of an index page with recips, a secondary page that lists the two galleries, and then the two galleries themselves. You're allowed 3 links per page, so you get 4 pages, 12 links, 4 of those links you can use to go back to a hub (1 per page).
You'll get a decent amount of traffic from the bigger linklists, but not the level a tgp can send traffic to you. Is it a better quality traffic than TGPs? The knee jerk reaction is that the traffic is better...personally I wouldn't say that...it's better than the crappy tgps out there, but it's not better than tgp traffic from high quality tgps (you'll often see linklists trading traffic with those tgps). It does also get more traffic from Search Engines.
I think the value of submitting freesites is SEO the pages to get SE traffic, the traffic from the LL itself, and since you already have the galleries built it shouldn't take you too long to change 2 galleries into a 4 page freesite.
Downside to LLs/Freesite submitting, umm, the category specific recips tables...god how I hate category specific recips.

I agree, that is not a fun part of building freesites :)

The natural thought if you are building galleries is that freesites are a totally natural extension of where you can use your galleries or if you build freesites then galleries are. It's not...
The galleries in a freesite have far less content and generally more advertising than TGPs like to see.
TGPs will generally let you get away with using only a handful of templates and LinkLists don't want to see the same template more than once a month.
A freesite might convert at 1:100 for you whereas a gallery might convert at 1:1000. The TGP might send you 10,000 quick hits and the LL might send you 1,000 over a longer time period.
Managing and mastering both is a goal of mine...

Building recip tables with category specific recips is a pain at first, but, you really only need to build those tables one time for common categories you submit to. Save those recip tables and then plug them into each new freesite you build.
