A former porn star has promised a "sexual revolution" if he becomes the governor of St Petersburg. Sergei Prianishnikov is bidding to become mayor of Russia's second city as a candidate for the liberal LDPR party.
Now a famous director of porn movies after moving behind the camera to produce erotic films, Prianishnikov told the Rosbalt news agency: "I'm ready to bring a sexual revolution to St Petersburg." Prianishnikov recently shocked residents with a porn serial about the city called White Nights, which he promoted during the city's 300th anniversary celebrations last month.
So far nine candidates have entered the running to become St Petersburg governor, including politicians, economic experts and a journalist.
