Is it easy to learn? I played the demo but it is so limited.

Well I couldn't figure it out at first, because they don't tell you anything, so you just get thrown into the world. So I Googled how the fuck to play and once I read the quick tip on how to start the rest was easy to figure out. You have to just figure shit out, and how to make things.

I play survival mode, not the other creation mode or whatever.

Basically here's how to get started.

First thing you need to know is night is bad to be outside, monsters and zombies come out when it's dark, so once you start a new game you need to get your ass inside ASAP to survive the first night.

Here's what you do (this is for the iPad version, not sure if it's the same as the others):

Go up to a tree, punch the shit out of it and then wood blocks fall down, you pick those up, pretty much the whole game is breaking things up and taking the blocks & stuff they leave and making tools and things.

After you knock down tree and get all the blocks, go to the ... menu and click on Craft then you make wood planks, then you make a Crafting Table, throw that on the ground, and also make some a couple Sticks. Then you click on the crafting table and make a Wood Axe.

Use the Wood Axe to chop down a couple more trees, pick up the wood and maybe some saplings, make more wood planks, go to the crafting table and make a Wood Pick Axe.

Then head towards the first mountain you see, find a stone face, or dig through the dirt until you hit stone, and dig a tunnel and a small cave. Use the stone blocks to block the entrance of your cave (leave the top open so you can see when it gets light again) and hide in the cave until night ends. While in the cave you can dig it into a more open area if you want, it's kind of like your home.

Make another crafting Table (if you have the wood for it) and put it in your cave. Then make a stone Pick Axe, they will last longer than the wood ones. You can also make a stonecutter table and a furnace (used to smelt and cook).

Then just start digging in your cave, I usually make a large sized square room and then start digging down in steps (you must make steps so you can get back up.)

You need to find coal, which are the sqaures with black specs in it, and make torches. You can look along cliff faces for it outside, or hope you find it soon in your cave. If you don't make torches you can't see, and monsters will also spawn in your cave in dark areas, so try to keep everything well lit.

Kill sheep for wool, to make your bed (Having a bed will make you respawn there when you die) Kill cows for beef and leather, kill chickens for meat, pick up their eggs and you can make more chickens, so if you build a fenced area you can keep chickens, also sheep, pigs, and cows.

Keep digging down and around in your cave, the good stuff like gold and diamonds are deep. Iron ore is about 4 or 5 levels down. There is also Lava (which I haven't found) and bedrock which means you gone as deep as you can, you can't destroy the bedrock.

When monster kills you, you drop all your shit and then respawn with nothing, so after doing this too many times I got smart and put a chest by my cave entrance and always kept weapons and tools in it, because the monsters hang out where you died and all your shit still is laying around. Also always keep your cave entrances blocked, or put a door and keep it closed, or they will come in.

Dying sucks. I had to quit my first game because it was too hard to get past all the monsters to get my stuff back, and now i am just to the point of having Iron tools on my new game, but I am anal so I make sure my caves look nice and have nice stairs, and build cool looking pillars for my torches ahahahaha.

Some other quick tips I figured out:

Tree Saplings and Apples fall out the trees when you chop the green parts. Plant 1 sampling back in the ground where the tree was. You can also start a tree farm somewhere because you'll have extra saplings. All the tree wood is the same, the trees just look different, so if you're anal like me you can plant the white birch looking ones all together in a grove, or whatever. I think it's just the brown trees that have the apples not sure.

Cook your meat on the furnace, then eat it to get health back, to eat just select the meat and click like you're going to mine, and it will eat.

You can leave things on the furnace and come back. So put all your Iron on it, and all your coal, (hold down on them and it will load them all in the stack), then leave and come back later when you think it's done, if it's not done you can still take the ones that are.

Build Chests, you can put all the shit you don't wan tot carry in them.

I also build multiple crafting tables, stonecutters, furnaces as I go deep, so I don't have ot keep walking all the way up.

Build armor from cow leather ASAP

Carry a sword wiht you at all times. Make a bow with a stick and string from the spiders. Arrows from feathers, sticks and flint (In gravel).

make sure you don't leave dark (not lit) areas, monsters will spawn and fuck your shit up, use a lot of torches every so often and in corners.

Sleeping on your bed will make it day again, as long as no monsters are near, monster die outside once it's daytime except for some sort of wolf or lion thing, but they can spawn anytime in your cave in the dark areas, day or night.

Dig a long tunnel entrance in all 4 directions at or slightly above ground level until you hit outside, sometimes there's enclosed areas outside that you can't get to otherwise, use torches along the way and put a door at the ends. Don't do this below ground level because if you hit a lake, you're fooked. Also dig straight up and use a ladder to go up, then put a trap door at the top, might be snow up there.

Don't plant trees too close to your entrance, or you'll get trapped and have to chop your way out.

I only found gold and diamonds once, the gold pick axe didn't last for shit (I think the wood one lasted longer), the diamond one lasted a long long time. I think make gold is better for armor or something, not really sure, that was my first game and I quit that one.

Shovels works faster on dirt and gravel than pick axe, watch out digging directly above you, gravel falls, down when you dig it.

I for one never saw the appeal with the game. I have never tried it but just watching videos of it makes me think it would be pretty fucking stupid to play.

Its mind numbingly stupid, that's what makes it so great. I mean its not as good as sitting on a catwalk for an hour holding the fire button down, but its damn close.

Oh dear FSM why did I start playing this mindless game that i can't seem to stop playing.

I have the same issue with Candy Crush Saga. :omg: I'm not even going to try Minecraft if it has that same mysterious psychological hook that tricks your brain into thinking you have to keep playing. You absolutely must get to the next step / level. I don't mind it when the game is actually really cool. It's just the games that you wondered why you played in the first place and why you can't stop playing. Seriously. Who ever thought blowing up pieces of candy would be so addictive?
