Is the total lack and failure of the press.

Watching the "news" is just such a joke these days, no one asks any hard questions for fear of losing their koosh job. It's just fucking ridiculous fluff and propaganda. Politicians won't even do an interview with someone if they feel it will make them look bad.

There is a whole entry in our fucking constitution to protect the press just for the reason to keep people honest and call them out when they fuck up. That's how important the press is, they're in the freaking constitution. Yet, it's all just a bunch of crap and opinion now.

Indeed.. even when a site like TMZ has gone to shit with allowing that douche nugget to feed them tons of bullshit PORN news and they run that shit over and over again along with the shitty VIVID OFFERS CONTRACT TO.... news story's.

There once was a time it was just good ol' celerity gossip!

The problem is at a certain point news casters are no longer news casters, but instead public figures themselves.

Nowadays: news = entertainment

This is very true.

Just like the political system the news system is broken and corrupt. They have way to much power in getting politicians elected. That's one of the main reasons we won't have a candidate for the people in our lifetimes. Just like the senate and congress and every other political branch in this country it's bought and paid for.

The true problem is that most news outlets are owned by just a handful of people. This makes it very easy to control the message that is spoon fed to the brain dead people who watch it.

Everything is broken down into easy to remember sound bites.. Like.. Tax and spend democrats! They hear it over and over and then they believe it. They can't produce facts to back it up. They just regurgitate what they hear the talking heads on tv telling them.

When my republican father starts spouting politics, it's all sound bites. It's all exactly what he hears on tv.. and when you present facts, he doesn't want to hear it. I get told things like.. oh you get all that stuff from that "internet".. like it's a flawed source. *shrug*

Hahahaha my mother is the exact same way, she's like a racist when it comes to Democrats, she always says "where did you hear that? Probably on the internet".

I heard a reporter say its impossible not to be subjective and that perhaps it should be subjective when reporting the news as the reporters opinions were important...I wanted to beat them with a newspaper from the 70's...

All the media outlets are now subs of huge corps...Sad, I watch the news for the weather to see the weather girls tits...and thats about it...

i agree with you 1000% Aico-san
