Eleven executives at PokerStars, Full Tilt Poker, Absolute Poker and a number of their affiliates were charged with bank fraud and money laundering in an indictment unsealed in a Manhattan court...
...“These defendants concocted an elaborate criminal fraud scheme, alternately tricking some U.S. banks and effectively bribing others to assure the continued flow of billions in illegal gambling profits,” Preet Bharara, the U.S. attorney in Manhattan, said in a statement....

processing money on the internet is still the world's achilles heel, governments like to keep control of money which = power

Yeah I seem to remember a little discussion about paper trails (real and virtual) with poker sites, which sorta got laughed at.

Yep, was gonna deposit some cash tonight and couldn't. Went to the website and it was done. Read an article in the Times online about it.
In the long run, I think it's a good thing. They will fight it and probably win. The way the law is written, they didn't do anything wrong. But, it's the government, they want you to do what mean, not what they say.
So no more poker for me. Canada is looking better and better.

it is ironic when you think about it in the context of history, where things are, and where things might be heading...
American citizens can't play poker online, Russian citizens have no problem playing poker online

Well it seems there is a bit more to this then it just being about playing poker in the US.

Well if they were giving small bank multi-million investments, I wonder how much they've been giving to the politicians who are trying to pass the law to make it legal.

it's way bigger than it looked like
I think this just proves how corrupt and stupid the politicians in the USA are. Considering the financial straights we're in. This is like the weed situation. Taking something that is easily taxable and harmless and banning it is just stupid. Put a fair tax on each and every poker transaction and we would make many millions of dollars. Same thing with weed. But no we have to listen to a very vocal minority that get their directions from an invisible man in the sky. Fuck them and their seemingly willful destruction of the American empire for the sake of a few million in personal political contributions.

Very powerful gambling industry lobbiests in our country. If bullet is able to stay home and gamble, he doesn't go to a resort where he pays for a room and eats a bacon, bacon, bacon cheeseburger for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
