Anyone know how to get a player to play one FLV after another or something that allows you to "Play Next" or similar?

JW Player using an MRSS feed will make a playlist.

I am using this player:

Unfortunately I can get no support at all from the seller.

I don't see Playlists as one of the features. Try the free version of JW player at longtailvideo.com and see if it does what you like, if it does, pay the $10 or whatever it is now.

Can you show or PM me an example of a site/page doing this with JW Player?

I would like to check how this is done before I move back to JW Player

http://www.longtailvideo.com/support/jw-player-setup-wizard?example=206

Just scroll down past all the setting options, there is a playlist there with like 3 samples in it.

Thanks Aico.

I know you're not JW support or anything but can you tell me how you'd manage all the FLVs in this RSS?

('playlistfile','/jw/upload/mrss.xml');

I mean how does the player know which FLV to play after which in this code?

<script type='text/javascript' src='swfobject.js'></script>

<div id='mediaspace'>This text will be replaced</div>

<script type='text/javascript'>
var so = new SWFObject('player.swf','ply','470','470','9','#000 000');
so.addParam('allowfullscreen','true');
so.addParam('allowscriptaccess','always');
so.addParam('wmode','opaque');
so.addVariable('playlistfile','/jw/upload/mrss.xml');
so.addVariable('playlist','bottom');
so.write('mediaspace');
</script>

This is for just one playlist. If you had a blog which had many posts each with it's own playlist......

It reads your mrss file, and lists them in order that is on the file. SO your mrss.xml file would look like this:

<rss version="2.0" xmlns:media="http://search.yahoo.com/mrss/">
<channel>
<title>My Site Name Video RSS</title>
<link>http://www.mysite.com</link>

<item>
<title>Video 01</title>
<media:content url="http://www.mysite.com/flv/video01.flv" type="video/x-flv" />
<media:thumbnail url="http://www.mysite.com/flv/video01.jpg" />
<link>http://www.affiliatelinksite.com</link>
</item>

<item>
<title>Video 02</title>
<media:content url="http://www.mysite.com/flv/video02.flv" type="video/x-flv" />
<media:thumbnail url="http://www.mysite.com/flv/video02.jpg" />
<link>http://www.affiliatelinksite.com</link>
</item>

<item>
<title>Video 03</title>
<media:content url="http://www.mysite.com/flv/video03.flv" type="video/x-flv" />
<media:thumbnail url="http://www.mysite.com/flv/video03.jpg" />
<link>http://www.affiliatelinksite.com</link>
</item>
</channel>
</rss>

The Video 01 would be at the top of the list.
You can also call out the size of your playlist, then if there are more videos than the size allows it creates a scroll bar. You can also put the list on the side, top, etc. It takes some figuring out to get the size callouts correct. You can also make a custom playlist, but that takes some work.

I had a go with JW Player again to see about what you are suggesting but I can't even get the basic embed to show on my page:

<script type='text/javascript' src='http://myblog.com/swfobject.js'></script>

<div id='mediaspace'>This text will be replaced</div>

<script type='text/javascript'>
var so = new SWFObject('http://myblog.com/player.swf','mpl','470','320','9');
so.addParam('allowfullscreen','true');
so.addParam('allowscriptaccess','always');
so.addParam('wmode','opaque');
so.addVariable('file','http://hostedbysponsor.flv');
so.addVariable('image','http://hostedbysponsor.jpg');
so.write('mediaspace');
</script>

Literally nothing is showing. Not only that but the other kind of JW code also does not work. :(

It reads your mrss file, and lists them in order that is on the file. SO your mrss.xml file would look like this:

OK it working. Yippee!

Using the kind of playlist code you have there Aico - how can you add an annotation?

I have it working apart from that and the link is not showing.

Try adding this: so.addVariable('linktarget','_self'); (_self is the target).
The link is just a button next to the full screen arrows button. Not sure what you mean by annotation, there are a ton of MRSS codes you can use for different information.

Also if you are going to have two players on the same page, you need to change that 'mediaspace' to be something else, in both places in the code like 'movie1' or whatever for each place you want the player to show on the page otherwise they will all be the same set of videos.

KM Player is a favorite in the AfterDawn movie forums I frequent ... I've been using it more than 1 year now .... and I love it!

It has internal decoders ... no need for codec packs that cause more problems than they are worth, and yes it has a play all similar function ... no need for feeds or codes ..

And KM Player has a very lean memory footprint compared to WMP or even VLC (VideoLAN)
